Jaramillo Commits to Framingham State University

A second-year member of the Worcester Jr. Railers, forward Samuel Jaramillo is thrilled to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Framingham State University for the 2026-27 season.

Jaramillo, who hails from Fitchburg, MA, is in his second season with the team. In 42 games played this season, Jaramillo has recorded 12 goals and 25 assists for 37 points. His two-way play and competitive drive have defined his tenure in Worcester, qualities that ultimately caught the attention of the Framingham State coaching staff and earned him a spot with the Rams. He had nothing but positive things to say about his experience in the program.

“I truly appreciate everything the Railers organization has done for me,” said Jaramillo. “From day one, the coaching staff, led by Coach Bertoni, Coach Fine-Lease, and Coach Araujo, had systems in place that made it clear they care about developing players the right way, both on and off the ice. The structure, accountability, and attention to detail make it an environment where you can grow every single day. I can’t say enough good things about the Railers organization as a whole.”

“It was an easy decision to come back for another season. The lessons they teach go far beyond hockey, and the culture between the players and coaching staff is something special. There’s a real sense of trust, competitiveness, and brotherhood that pushes everyone to be better. I’m grateful to be part of an organization that invests so much in its players and builds a culture you’re proud to represent.”

Jaramillo first started communicating with Framingham State and Head Coach Mike Bailey over the holiday break, and after a campus visit last month, the decision became clear.

“The coaches have really shown that they value my overall game,” said Jaramillo. “They like that I take pride in playing in all three zones and being reliable wherever I’m needed on the ice. They also appreciate the energy I bring every time I step on the ice, whether it’s being physical when needed, keeping the pace high, or making plays in tight spaces with my skating and puck movement.”

For Jaramillo, Framingham State checked every box when it came time to choose a program, both on the ice and in the classroom.

“I chose Framingham State because it felt like the right fit for both my athletic and academic goals,” said Jaramillo. “The hockey program immediately stood out. The competitiveness, the coaching staff, and the strong sense of teamwork made it clear it was a place where I could grow as a player. Beyond hockey, the campus culture really drew me in. There’s a strong sense of community, and it feels like a place where people genuinely support one another.”

“Academically, majoring in business felt like the perfect path for me,” said Jaramillo. “I’m interested in building skills in leadership, management, and entrepreneurship, and Framingham State offers the resources and support to help me succeed. I don’t have to separate my athletic passion from my academic ambitions. I can pursue both at a school that truly feels like home.”

Before he heads to Framingham State this upcoming fall, Jaramillo has his eyes locked on making a playoff push with his talented Railers squad.

“My focus for the rest of the season is on continuing to improve my game as a whole,” said Jaramillo. “I want to keep getting faster, stronger, and more explosive so I’m fully prepared for the pace and physicality of college hockey. Every practice, lift, and game is an opportunity to take another step forward, from decision-making to consistency, so when I make the jump to the next level, I’m confident and ready to compete right away.”

The USPHL congratulates Samuel Jaramillo, his family, the Worcester Jr. Railers and Framingham State University for his commitment.
