Warner-Senee Commits to UMass Boston
Worcester Railers JHC forward Zack Warner-Senee has announced his commitment to play NCAA Division III hockey at the University of Massachusetts Boston beginning with the 2026-27 season. The Leominster, Mass., native has posted 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points in 47 games played this season, bringing a physical presence and puck-protection ability that drew the attention of Beacons head coach Peter Belisle.
“I have a big frame and can protect the puck a lot in the offensive zone,” said Warner-Senee. “They liked how I play.”
The decision to attend UMass Boston was an easy one for the Massachusetts native. Proximity to home factored in, but so did the program’s pedigree. Coach Belisle, now in his 19th season with the Beacons, is the winningest coach in program history and has led UMass Boston to multiple NEHC titles, two NCAA Tournament berths, and a Frozen Four appearance in 2016.
“I’m from Mass and I thought it would be nice to be close to home,” Warner-Senee said. “I liked the hockey team because they have a good strong program and tons of history.”
Warner-Senee made his commitment roughly a month after contact with the Beacons coaching staff began. A campus visit to Boston confirmed the fit.
For Warner-Senee, signing with the Worcester Railers JHC was just as purposeful. He credited the organization’s facilities, coaching staff, and the direct pipeline Coach Bertoni has built to college programs across the country.
“The Worcester Railers JHC are a great organization and have beautiful facilities and the coaches are very knowledgeable about the game and help a lot with getting players to the next level,” he said. “I signed with them because Coach Bertoni is on the phone with college coaches almost every day and has a lot of connections at the next level.”
Before the 2025-26 season closes, Warner-Senee has one more goal in Worcester.
“I want to make a deep playoff run and hopefully raise a Dineen Cup in Idaho this year,” he said.
The NCDC congratulates Zack Warner-Senee on his commitment to the University of Massachusetts Boston and thanks him for his contributions to the Worcester Railers JHC. The Railers organization wishes Zack continued success on and off the ice.
