Zizmor Commits to Manhattanville

A two-year veteran of the Worcester Jr. Railers, defenseman Ezra Zizmor is thrilled to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Manhattanville University for the 2026-27 season.

Zizmor, who hails from New York, NY is in his second season with the team. During the 2024-25 season, Zizmor registered 12 points in 50 games with the Railers and it was an easy decision for him to re-sign. In 35 games so far this season, Zizmor has eight points and is key on the blue line. He had nothing but positive things to say about his experience.

“Coming back to play for the Railers this year was an easy decision,” said Zizmor. “After playing with the Railers in ‘24-’25, I was extremely excited to come back for this season. We have a great core group of returners from last year who are leading the way this season, and we have an amazing group overall.”

“Our coaching staff led by head coach Sean Bertoni have done an incredible job, not only with my development and college search, but with our whole team experience. They put everything they have into making us better players and people, and teach us everyday how to play the game we want to play every time we hit the ice. I can’t say enough positive things about the coaches, players, and everyone involved in the Railers organization.”

Zizmor first started communicating with Manhattanville during the holiday break and after staying in touch with the coaching staff over the following several weeks, he went on a visit in January and decided this was the place.

“Their coaching staff liked my overall game as a defensive defenseman, my physicality and compete level, and my leadership skills that I’ve shown thus far with the Railers,” said Zizmor.

One of the main reasons that drew Zizmor to Manhattanville is its close proximity to his home. They also have a top notch hockey and finance programs.

“Being a New York City kid, Manhattanville is extremely close to home and family and has a strong reputation in the NYC business world,” said Zizmor. “On the hockey side, they compete in the UCHC, one of the best conferences in college hockey. They are also graduating some defensemen this spring which will provide an opportunity for me to make an impact right away.”

“On the academic side, Manhattanville has a great business program with many alumni working in the NYC area, which is what I aspire to do as well. I connected with several Manhattanville hockey alumni on my visit. They now work in finance in NYC and have provided great insight about their great experience at Manhattanville and their success in business and life after graduation.”

Before he heads to Manhattanville this upcoming fall, Zizmor hopes to make a run for the Dineen Cup with his talented team, who has really found its groove.

“I’m excited to make a playoff push for the Dineen Cup this season,” said Zizmor. “We have an extremely talented and close-knit group, and I confidently believe we can go on a long run and hopefully bring a championship to Worcester. We have really found our game in the last month or so, and we look forward to continuing to improve each game. Personally, I want to continue to grow my game to be an impact player at the college level, and prepare for a stronger and faster game. I believe we have what it takes to make a run for the Dineen Cup and my teammates and I are excited to do so.”

The NCDC congratulates Ezra Zizmor, his family, the Worcester Jr. Railers and Manhattanville University for his commitment.
